Scroll down to the bottom for Candidate News Tracker from the Washington Post, and early Caucus and Primary Results prior to Super Tuesday from the Associated Press
About the links: Each item has 3 links, the candidates (or his committee's) own site, their Wikipedia entry, and Conservapedia entry. The difference between the Wiki and Conserva pedias is that wiki is editable, by anyone on the internet, moderated, and claims to be unbiased, while Conserva is not editable and purposefully biased.
Conservapedia was created because it accuses Wikipeida of having a liberal biased. There could be some truth to this as most internet users are of a younger age bracket (which is stereotypically more liberal than older age brackets). However, it does seem strange that a problem could arise from a site that is editable. I decided to include links to Conservapedia simply because it is nonetheless a source, but it should be understood it is VERY biased.
Regardless, the total content of the sources in this list have obviously been biased to the right. I consider the best sources to be the candidates own maintained site and Wikipedia. Only visit Conservapedia if you are interested in that viewpoint.
If anyone has a "Liberalapedia" link please let me know.
About the Title
It's how I would identify myself politically. Ultimately I would not consider myself either Liberal or Conservative. Although I know, politics being what they are, I agree more with the Liberal agenda. However, if political agendas were designed to only run your own life, I would immediately consider myself Conservative.
The best example I can give is to consider the abortion issue. I am pro-choice. However, if I put in this situation myself I would fight to not let it happen (although ultimately I know it is not my decision). I believe strongly that people should have the liberty to make decisions on how to live their own life, because frankly their shit is not my shit. I also strongly believe that no matter how open minded anyone could possibly be, without divine intervention, there is no way anyone could possibly understand what another person's reason is for making any decision. Thus personally I am conservative, because this is how I find things are kosher in my world. However, my views on how society should be run fall closest to the Liberal way of thinking.
I don't honestly believe my own politics (the conservative part) are worth imposing onto others. So why have a political blog? Well I have some intent with this blog. Its about a year until the next election and I do plan on doing more research on the candidates than I have previously. If nothing else I figured a blog would be a good place to store information I gather. Currently I do not have any reservations of who I plan on voting for, Republican or Democrat.
That doesn't really answer the question though as I do intend on posting other things than information gathered on candidates. I am also interested not in expressing my politics, but my opinion of politics. Eventually, I'm sure actually political issues will seep in, but I intend to keep that as neutral as possible. We'll see how that works out. ;)
What does "politics" mean to me?
Politics are an unavoidable distortion of facts caused by an emotional response based on a person's own background. Honestly, if it weren't for politics, running a country would be easy. Alas, I called politics unavoidable for a reason. I'm not saying if given the chance, I'd do away with politics. Its a necessary evil that has a great benefit to the system of checks and balances (at least as a two party system).
I am a recent Graduate for Northeastern University in Boston MA. I have no official training in politics, but lets face it does that stop anyone? Inevitably I will start coming at some subject from a sociological perspective. However, as much as I'd like to pretend I have no complete training in sociology (came up one class short in college of a minor), so at best I can call sociology a hobby of mine. So basically I am not an authority of anything I'm writing about. Except puns, according to my friends I am quite the authority of puns, which I'm sure will come out eventually as well.
